The Russian Federation’s military attack on Ukraine has created more than 2.5 million Ukrainian refugees. At this time, out of the 2.5 million Ukrainians who fled the war, more than 133,000 are in Moldova. According to experts, the number of Ukrainian refugees per 100,000 inhabitants in Moldova exceeds 4124 people. So, the burden per capital in the Republic of Moldova is much higher than in other countries that have received Ukrainian citizens.
There are 93 authorized functional refugee centers in the country, of which 39 are in Chisinau. Also, a large part of the Ukrainian refugees were hosted by the local people.
The authorities of the Republic of Moldova, as well as every citizen, make a considerable effort to provide assistance to the Ukrainian people.
The Prime Minister added that it is quite difficult to assess the costs at the moment, but they already have a price at which they operate. According to Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, Moldova spends $ 25-30 a day for a refugee.
It should be noted that since February 24, when Russia invaded the neighboring country, more than 278,000 Ukrainians have entered the Republic of Moldova, according to the Border Police. Some of them are in transit, and about 133,000 remained in Moldova.
